Window air conditioner is becoming one of the basic need of humans. This is one luxury item everyone wants to lay their hands on. In today's scenario, where in we have a profusion of technologies and brands, choosing your air conditioning system should not be very difficult. Living life king-size is what everybody wants, luxury is all we dream about, but what if the scorching sun in mid May is making your life miserable. Well, to avoid this we depend heavily on the air conditioning system. AC is no more a status symbol now-a-days; rather it has evolved as a necessity. The term air conditioning most commonly refers to the cooling and de-humidification of indoor air for thermal comfort. In simpler terms, it is a machine used for cooling, heating and ventilation.
Voltas chases the overseas chill
Mumbai, Feb 5: Voltas Ltd, the Mumbai-based Rs 3,000-crore air-conditioning and engineering services company, is likely to bag a large overseas order that could be worth Rs 600-800 crore. The order from West Asia would be in the electro-mechanical segment and come before the end of the current fiscal, a source close to the development said. It is also learnt that the Tata group company is readying itself for bigger bets into special economic zone space for long-term contracts. M M Miyajiwala, executive vice president-finance, Voltas, said, "Bidding and bagging orders is a continuous process for us and I don't want comment anything on fresh orders at this stage." He said that Voltas order book size has swelled to Rs3,500 crore, of which Rs2,700 crore are from overseas and Rs 800 crore from the domestic market.
Three weeks until it begins anew
I am really excited about the potential of this season, but that is what every February holds. I am hoping that they can all play to their potential and the season will last into October. The 3 "old men" need to bring all they have, and the young guys need to learn all they can from Smolts and Glavine one last time around. Our offence will be fine if Chipper can stay healthy. Deal signed for Perkins plant
After four months of deliberation, Delphi Corp. has chosen a potential buyer. Delphi Corp. entered into a $44.2 million asset sale and purchase agreement Wednesday with Cleveland-based Resilience Capital Partners for the sale of its wheel bearings business. There are a few more hurdles to clear before closing the sale with Resilience Capital Partners. Delphi Corp. filed a motion at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York to request a bidding procedures hearing on Jan. 25. The bidding procedures hearing will allow other businesses interested in acquiring the plant a chance to outbid Resilience Capital Partners. If no other company bids on the property, a final sale hearing will be set sometime in the first quarter.
Moffitt House got up and went
If you think you saw an old, two-story house moving along a Hallandale Beach road Sunday morning, you weren't hallucinating. It was actually the 90,000-pound, 102-year-old Moffitt House. Local historians say it is Broward County's second-oldest standing residence after the Stranahan House in Fort Lauderdale. Developers moved all 2,450 square feet of the historic home, made of sturdy Dade County pine, from its original location at 134 S. Dixie Hwy. to a few blocks south next to another historic home, the 84-year-old Curci House at 324 SW Second Ave. The hourlong feat was accomplished by Brownie Moving and Heavy Hauling, based in Fort Pierce. ''It went very smoothly,'' said developer Richard Shan, 45, noting the event had been planned for about a year.
