Window AC: Cooling the Atmosphere!

Window air conditioner is becoming one of the basic need of humans. This is one luxury item everyone wants to lay their hands on.

In today's scenario, where in we have a profusion of technologies and brands, choosing your air conditioning system should not be very difficult. Living life king-size is what everybody wants, luxury is all we dream about, but what if the scorching sun in mid May is making your life miserable. Well, to avoid this we depend heavily on the air conditioning system. AC is no more a status symbol now-a-days; rather it has evolved as a necessity.

The term air conditioning most commonly refers to the cooling and de-humidification of indoor air for thermal comfort. In simpler terms, it is a machine used for cooling, heating and ventilation.

Jeff Thelen's Blog

I know some people really like the previews, so may be we were out of line. On the other hand, I sort of felt like he jumped the gun telling us to be quiet before the movie ever began.

I'm sort of lost here, does anyone know proper theater etiquette?

J

UPDATE ON 1/30/08Hi everybody and thanks for all the responses! There are so many I can't answer them all, except the ones that need to be directly addressed. In a nutshell, there really doesn't seem to be a hard and fast rule here. With some saying my friends and I were rude and others saying the guy in front of me jumped the gun. JWell Jeff I guess it depends on the theatre. Here in Phillips I don't hear people talking much before, during, or after the movie.

State Museum receives $500K gift from PSEG Foundation

A $500,000 gift from the PSEG Foundation will fund a new exhibit on global warming at the State Museum in Trenton, state officials said today.

Gov. Jon Corzine, Secretary of State Nina Mitchell Wells and PSEG President Ralph Izzo made the announcement at the museum, which remains closed for a $14.5 million renovation that is more than two years behind schedule.

The grant represents the largest gift yet to the $13 million fundraising campaign to purchase and install new exhibitions for the state-owned facility. With its initial payment of $125,000, PSEGs gift pushes total donations to about $400,000.

No reopening date was announced at today's event. Wells - who previously promised the museum would open last fall - said only that construction should be finished "in a few months." Parts of the facility will reopen after that, she said.

Iron Horse decision planned

Shelton thinks the Iron Horse is a valuable asset for the city, especially considering Steamboat's high number of seasonal employees. Randall agreed, noting the time it can take to find a home in Steamboat.

“Most of the people who want to transition to an apartment or house, it's taking one to two months to do," Randall said.

In addition to the staff report, Councilwoman Cari Hermacinski also prepared a financial analysis assessing the two options for the Iron Horse Inn. Her conclusions differ from the staff report, because of different assumptions for revenues and expenses. According to Hermacinski, the redevelopment option would lose $930,782 throughout 10 years, while continuing to operate the inn as it is now would result in a loss of $537,808.

City Manager Alan Lanning said Hermacinski's report represents an unusual foray into work traditionally not done by an elected official.

In a letter to its customers this week, the U.S. Postal Service warned about identity theft conducted via the mail. While the mail is related to only a small fraction—2 percent—of identity theft cases, John Potter, the postmaster general, says he wants to reduce that number to zero.

Tips for keeping your identity safe include shredding all financial documents before tossing them, leaving your Social Security number at home, and never giving out personal information through the mail to unfamiliar companies or people.

The Federal Trade Commission says that identity thefts sometimes occur when thieves fill out "change of address" forms for unsuspecting victims and then collect information from bills that arrive at the new address. If bills or credit card statements don't arrive on time, be sure to contact the companies sending them.
