Students can now carry plastic for purchases at Severn School
There are 585 students in grades six through 12 at Severn, an independent private college-preparatory day school in Severna Park. Since the beginning of February, about 80 students have enrolled in the card program. which is optional, Mrs. Pinnix Fish said. The card bears the student's name, identification number, photo and a bar code. It can be clipped to a lanyard. Currently, a separate photo identification card is given to all students. Mrs. Pinnix Fish said she loves the new system. "We're the first school in the area to offer this service in our cafeteria and bookstore," she said. "From a control standpoint, it's a good thing not to be carrying cash. It's a service we can offer to our students and their families." The program was not cheap.
Killing is sixth in year for NLR area
For the first time since she moved into a house on West 19 th Street in North Little Rock, Jacqueline Ridgel said she's starting to wonder if her neighborhood is safe. In the past year, the Baring Cross neighborhood has had six homicides, including four in the past three months. The latest, a shooting early Sunday, happened in a house just down the street from Ridgel's. "I've got two teenage boys," Ridgel said. "If they tell me they want to go to the basketball court right now, I probably wouldn't even let them go.” Police are concerned about the spate of killings in the neighborhood and are developing a response, said Sgt. Terry Kuykendall, a Police Department spokesman. "To have a rash of violent crime like [the neighborhood has ] had, obviously, it's something that definitely stands out and makes people take notice," Kuykendall said.

Klein approached Ellison to ask him about the information he (Klein) received from his meeting with AAH, and Ellison told him that he had "publicly denounced" and would continue to publicly denounce the anti-Semitism from the groups (MAS and CAIR). Kogen told Kaufman that Rep. Klein was satisfied with Rep. Ellison's statements to him and that they were consistent with the principles of the anti-Semitism task force. However, Americans Against Hate points out that, to its knowledge, never has Keith Ellison publicly denounced any of the organizations in question. He has never denounced the anti-Semitism from the groups nor any of the terrorist connections of the groups.
