| Willows schools face gloomy budget forecast
WILLOWS — As the state budget crisis gathers over Glenn County, officials at Willows Unified School District are preparing for the worst. "The worse-case scenario is that we are going to have to cut $1 million from the budget," said Steve Olmos, WUSD superintendent, at a meeting this week of the board of trustees. At a meeting Thursday night, the board of trustees learned proposed state budget cuts could cost the district hundreds of thousands. New business director Steve Rudy presented the gloomy outlook from the state, saying the district could lose up to $650,000 in Cost of Living Adjustment reductions. But it isn't just state cuts that will affect the district. Rudy said federal revenue of $200,000 may also be eliminated. How much of a cut Willows Unified will have to make will depend on what happens in Sacramento.
Jim Thomas Live
I live in Boston and just want to tell you how beautiful of an experience it was to see so many Patriot fans unhappy after the Super Bowl, sweet justice my friend. That being said, I believe we've made three great moves since this time last year: Drafting Carriker, drafting Ryan, and hiring Saunders. To me, the obvious is that we have to have an A+ draft and shore up the OLine in free agency. My biggest concern is: What happens to Leonard Little's situation? It seems like he is on the wrong side of 30 and with his off the field issues combined with a huge cap number, maybe cutting LL is our best option. What's the buzz around Rams park about this and the Ike situation? Best, S. Monkey. .
Reborn Library Reconnects With City
If you think of the city as a human body, parts of the city can easily be seen as various organs or limbs. Atrain station is a metaphor for the feet, its roads and streets make up the circulatory system, parks are the lungs, an art museum might be the eyes, the ears are a concert hall. Hartford's higher functions — the brain and the life of the mind — are now housed in a beautiful new library on Main Street. "New" library? Hasn't the city's library always been on Main Street, first housed in the Wadsworth Atheneum and, for the past 50 years, in its own building between Arch and Sheldon streets? I say "new" because the library's transformation over the past eight years has been so complete as to render it reborn, emerging from its cocoon of scaffolding a new building of light, views and civic welcome.
Munters the humidity expert
At sea the battle against unwanted moisture is endless, but winnable. Modern mist elimination and droplet separation offers a profoundly effective method to stop moisture threat, right at the bulkhead. Properly designed air intakes (mist elimination) reduce risk in three primary areas: Corrosion, Wet Filters, Mould and Mildew. Traditional solutions, such as conventional louvers, ventilators and swan necks do little or nothing to restrict damaging moisture flows from being carried inboard. Munters' goal in mist elimination is to make selection and specification easy for quality ship builders and designers who insist on the best protection with minimal or no maintenance, for the life of the vessel. Mist Elimination & Droplet Separation Munters' streamlined separator profiles deflect the droplet laden gas stream, as a result the momentum of the droplets causes them to impinge onto the profile surface.
