Miley Cyrus: 'I'm lonely'

The 15-year-old Hannah Montana star claims she is lonely, because father Billy Ray and mother Tish have banned her from spending time with many of her friends.

She says, "Some people think you have more privileges than other teenagers because of what you do. And that's not it at all. It's actually the opposite."

"They're protective for sure. My mom is more strict than my dad."

"You want to keep your closed circle of friends. And sometimes my mom is saying, 'I have a bad vibe about this person. She needs to hang out with you when I'm around just to keep you safe.'

"I need more friends. Its kind of like my quest right now just to have more true friends."

Ransom: From ‘mistake’ to great, Felix says

When Larry Felix came from Ponca City, Okla., to Ottawa to be the new administrator at Ransom Memorial Hospital in 2000, he knew the hospital's finances were shaky. The hospital had no cash reserves. The hospital had a significant debt. It depended on the county sales tax levy to keep the doors open. When he started, Felix said he originally thought the hospital had two years of survival left before it went bankrupt. Then he began closely examining the books. “It was a lot worse," Felix said. “I told my wife that I felt I had made a mistake (coming to Ottawa)," Felix said. The hospital staff was spooked by the hospital's finances, he told the Franklin County Commission Wednesday during his annual report to the county. “They were in fear of losing their jobs," Felix said. By a careful program of reducing costs and improving care, the staff righted the hospital's finances and now the hospital is debt-free and planning for a major renovation project .

Mountaineer offense is on the hot seat

GLENDALE, Ariz. - As West Virginia's football season comes to a close, the immediate intrigue is in the unknown.

That has nothing to do with who the next Mountaineer head coach will be. That's for another day, a later one.

It has everything to do with how 11th-ranked WVU will try to offensively get to 11 wins for a third straight season against Oklahoma (11-2) here on Wednesday night in the Fiesta Bowl.

There is some inkling that the Mountaineers (10-2) might try to go to the air more often than they have, although there's no strong evidence to support that.

First off, WVU hasn't shown any vertical passing game since Patrick White has been the starting quarterback. Former Coach Rich Rodriguez, time and again, labeled most of his wideouts as unreliable.

ComEd plans to push efforts that cut bills

ComEd customers may pay more for new conservation programs but could save in the long run, consumer advocates and the utility said Thursday.

The Illinois Commerce Commission, which regulates ComEd, has approved energy efficiency programs proposed by ComEd, downstate utilities and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

Different programs will roll out at different times. They include discounts on energy efficient light bulbs; the pick up and recycling of older, inefficient refrigerators; air conditioning "tune ups" and other measures designed to reduce energy consumption.

ComEd said consumers overall could save roughly $155 million during the lifetime of the programs, possibly up to 10 years. That could save 1.2 megawatts of power, or enough to power 140,000 homes for one year, ComEd spokesman John Dewey said.

Las Vegas' best off-Strip restaurants

Mike was a seven-year disciple of Emeril Lagasse, and opened Emeril's New Orleans Fish House at the MGM Grand.

A look at each of the restaurants:

Rosemary's While Table 34 and Todd's Unique are simple, unassuming neighborhood establishments, this restaurant offers a distinct air of sophistication - in decor, service and ambience. We felt like the only Strip refugees in the other two restaurants, but it was evident here (certainly by the luxury vehicles in the parking lot) that high-rolling foodies have discovered this 7-year-old restaurant.

Some of the entree prices stray into the high $30s and the wine markups are a bit more conventional, but the payoff here is considerable.

Jordan and wife Wendy have spent much of their careers cooking in the Deep South, and the preparation styles reflect that.
